I Wanna Breathe | Music Video

Creative Director Pete Chatmon was contacted to do a music video for Sananda Maitreya’s latest album. With only a one day shoot, The Double7 Squad created an elegant concept to complement “I Wanna Breathe”, a song inspired by the death of Eric Garner and the greater #BlackLivesMatter conversation.

We went to work with a skeleton crew at The Art Factory in Paterson, NJ, coupled with man-on-the-street profile shots in NYC’s Meatpacking District.

The images selected to play on the 1980’s television were designed to chronicle the violence that happens today while placing it in a historical context.
