FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (2/1/18)

Los Angeles, CA: Director Pete Chatmon released his award-winning short film “BlackCard” on YouTube today. Written by Tony Patrick, the short film stars Dorian Missick (“Monster”, “Animal Kingdom”), Simone Missick (“Marvel’s Luke Cage”, “Marvel’s The Defenders”), and Hisham Tawfiq (“The Blacklist”) in a comedy about an alternate universe where a shadow organization called “The Commission” is tasked with keeping members up to snuff on their “blackness”.

After screening in over twenty film festivals, including the ABFF/HBO Short Film Competition, “BlackCard” was released to a premium cable audience on HBO. Of the film’s online premiere, Pete Chatmon said, “we’re excited to release the film online for free to a worldwide audience. ‘BlackCard’ deals with universal themes of identity with a delicate mixture of comedy, satire and drama. Many have compared the film to Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror’. With the conversation around Black History Month, excitement for ‘Black Panther’, and increased recognition of compelling new voices, it’s an important addition to the conversation”.
